Amanda Seafoods Awarded for its Packaging
Amanda Seafoods has been awarded with this year’s Can Awards for its new packaging for their popular children’s products Fiskeduserne. The jury for this year's Can Awards gave Amanda Seafoods silver in the 'Best two-piece food can' category.
The improved version manufactured by Glud & Marstrand, has a more eye-catching packaging. The facing has been clearly optimized and the graphic design gives a more appealing, modern look. The soft, organic shape of the Cup Can has certainly impressed the retail trade.
"This helps emphasize their novelty value and guarantees the products attention in stores and a stronger appeal to consumers," says Jesper Kold Sørensen, Manager of Amanda Seafoods A/S.
"The new recloseable plastic lid seals the cans after opening so that the products are easier to handle and can be used in a packed lunch. Children can now spread fish topping on bread themselves and benefit from both the vitamins and the taste, which has been improved following a test conducted among school children," explains Jesper Kold Sørensen. The CupCan also enhances the functionality of Fiskeduserne.

Since 1916, Amanda Seafoods A/S has manufactured canned high quality seafood products. In the mid 1950´s the company invented a new innovative product, pressed cod roe in cans. This was the beginning of an adventure about an industrial product, which since that time became a huge success – first in Denmark and later also abroad.
Still today pressed cod roe is an important part of the company’s range, however, Amanda also offers canned mackerel in different sauces, cod liver, tuna and some fish pâté variants. Cod roe and a full range of mackerel variants are now being launched with MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certification.
Apart from a broad retail assortment Amanda also offers a full range of the same products suitable for the foodservice market and for the industrial market the company offers flexible solutions according to the particular demands of the customers.
“Amanda” is the primary brand, however, the company supplies private labels developing new products or variants in close co-operation with their customers.
Most of theproducts are manufactured at the plant in Frederikshavn. The factory is equipped with state-of-the-art production facilities and the packaging of non-perishables is almost fully automatic. Amanda gives great importance to environmental care and most of the sludge and fish waste is recycled. Because sustainability is a major issue, Amanda became MSC certified in 2008. The company is also ISO 22000 certified.
